Review of Blood Challenge by Eileen Wilks

Blood Challenge (World of the Lupi, #7)Blood Challenge by Eileen Wilks

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this latest book by Eileen Wilks, and have to say it is probably one of my favorites from the series!

The world for Lupi is changing. Events signaling the beginning of war with their greatest enemy are taking place, and no one is safe. She who is not named (a goddess like character who lives in another realm) has returned to her plotting against the wolves, but Rule and Lily are no longer her only focus. All wolves are, and not everyone will survive.

New characters are introduced in this novel, and Rule and Lily are not the only focus of narration. Rule’s older brother Benedict receives more attention, and the reader finds out more about his Chosen who has passed away. Benedict even gets a love interest, Arejenie, who I end up liking even more than Lily! Arjenie and Lily are like two sides of the same coin. Both are strong women who will do anything for those they love, but where Lily is calm and reserved, Arjenie is an open book (for the most part anyways!) I loved the parts that dealt with Arjenie and Benedict and their growing relationship. I know that a future novella will focus on them, and I’m more than willing to have an entire book be about these two!

The plot is one that will keep the reader interested till the very end, and while Blood Challenge does come to a definite conclusion, the book’s final paragraph ends in a shocking prophecy that is a great lead in to the next, Death Magic. It will be interesting to see where Wilks takes these beloved characters in their next adventures!
