Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event hosted by Reading Between Pages that will be open from one Thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:
-
A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
-
Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
-
Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
-
It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”
This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.
This week’s theme is:
SMILE (Laugh, Grin, Giggle, Guffaw, etc)
Mercy Blade: A Jane Yellowrock Novel by Faith Hunter
“He gave me that half smile, the faint but intense one that had been known to curl my toes, and raked my body with his eyes again. ‘You look striking tonight, Jane, lethal and lovely.’”
Location 1716 – Kindle
“Bruiser’s eyes came alight and he showed teeth in a wicked smile. My blood pounded, following the percussive beat of the music. Our skin was slick with sweat from the humid night and the glowing coals, our hands sliding through perspiration, flesh heated beneath.”
Location 2958 - Kindle

Its not for everyone, but thanks for stopping by anyways. Oh, and if I remember correctly, that was about as steamy as it got. Jane is known more for her fighting lol.
ReplyDeleteSometimes its hard to pick just one. So I picked two! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad you stopped by. :D
ReplyDeleteIt is a little on the steamy side. But then, it does take place in New Orleans, and NOLA is known for its steamy weather. ;)
ReplyDeleteShivers are good! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought so too. You must read Jane! ;)
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time choosing - that's why I put two lol!
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty cover. Jane is an awesome kick-butt heroine!
ReplyDeleteYes, this is book three in the series. I actually read it when it came out, and I loved it! It is such an awesome series. I decided to use it for the theme today so that more people would be aware of it. I just happened to come across it in the bookstore one day, and it was such a wonderful find.
ReplyDeleteCurling the toes, huh? Nice! Is this the 3rd novel? I really need to hunt it down and read it. I finished the 2nd shortly after it came out. Are you enjoying it?
