Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event hosted by Reading Between Pages that will be open from one Thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:
-
A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
-
Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
-
Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
-
It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”
This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.
This week’s theme is:
ANY ACTION (go, walk, close, clap etc)
Spell Bound by Kelley Armstrong
“Dealing with Adam is a lot like dealing with fire itself. I can push and steer him in my direction, but only up to a point. Pass that point, and he’ll flare up and lash out. Step back and show respect, and he simmers down. Problems only arise if I don’t heed that warning flash. I’ve done it a few times. Got burnt. Wised up.”
Location 1661 – Kindle
Look for my review of Spell Bound in the next day or so!
Thanks for stopping by Rachel!
ReplyDeleteYes! I really enjoyed it. She brings all of the characters into this one. The main focus is Savannah, but it was nice to see everyone again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Freda!
ReplyDeleteI thought I would have the review up tonight, but ended up going out with friends instead. Guess it will be tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping in for a visit!

ReplyDeleteI love this series! It is one of my favorites. Thanks for stopping by! :)
ReplyDeleteAnother interesting and different perspective of this theme. Great choice.

ReplyDeleteThis week's theme is easy in the sense that novels are packed with action. Character have to be doing something, after all! What's harder is finding a snippet with actions that have such a meaningful connection that they practically have their own context. And the latter is what I think you've done here. =) All the actions in your excerpt fall under the "Dealing with Adam" banner; they belong together and look strong under this thematic spotlight.
Good selection today, quite a bit of action.

Awesome choice! I love Armstrong, but I haven't picked up this book yet. I just finished Frostbitten a few months back. Are you enjoying it?

This is already on my tbr but you just pushed it up the list!
ReplyDeleteNow I have to go and see if I can find it in my huge pile of kindle-freebies ;)
Here is my snippet: http://wp.me/p1GSdW-1L
You picked such a cohesive set of actions. Excellent choice this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cat! Glad you could stop by. :D
ReplyDeleteThis was actually a harder theme then I thought it was going to be! Like you said, the characters are always performing some kind of action, but it was difficult finding the perfect snippet. This paragraph stood out to me though on my initial reading. Glad I highlighted it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
