Follow Friday #5

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

Q. Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

A. This is going to sound silly, but for me that book was Twilight. Yes, I know, a lot of people hate these books now. I know they can be kind of silly, but they're one of the few books that I've actually taken the time to re-read.  The reason it was influential though is because it was my first paranormal book. After reading this series I looked for other books in this genre, and found so many great books to read! But what makes this book the most influential for me - if it wasn't for Twilight, I wouldn't have read Sookie, and then I wouldn't have found the greatest group of friends ever! I'm part of a wonderful group on Facebook (we call ourselves The Bookies) and I love everyday when I get to talk to them. We talk books, movies, life in general, and anything and everything really. For someone who doesn't have a whole lot of friends, its nice to be able to share things with this group of lovely ladies. So that is why Twilight has become the book that most changed my life, and I'm so thankful it did.

Also, don't forget to check out my giveaway page - the Summer Giveaway Hop will be ending tomorrow and a chance to win Sherrilyn Kenyon's Retribution ends August 11th.

  1. I absolutely love how books can bring people together. I have met some amazing friends through book blogging and sa sharing a love for the same books

  2. Never apologize for liking anything. If anyone makes you feel bad, it's a problem with them, not you.

  3. Hopping through. Twilight isn't at all silly. In fact, I linked to an old post on my FF post today all about why you shouldn't be ashamed to love Twilight.

Seeing lots and lots of Twilight this week, so don't feel silly! Although I was already knee deep into the paranormal books long before Twilight! But I did read the books out of curiosity!

  5. Your reason for listing Twilight is basically my reason as well. It did jump start my love of reading, but it also helped me find the greatest group of friends. We all met each other on the Twilight Lexicon. We talk to each other via Twitter, Facebook, blogs, etc. We've even gone to Forks together. The ladies I met from the Lex who live in the same state as I do try to get together once a month. It's been such a life-changing experience!

  6. I totally don't hate Twilight! I still love it, too! It's an amazing series!! I love your blog. New follower.

  9. Yeah, I think Twilight was one of the first paranormal books too. I remember hearing about it when my I went on a field trip in high school to the library downtown and the library picked it up and said how amazing it was. I can understand how it really changed reading for people!
