Theme Thursdays is a fun weekly event hosted by Reading Between Pages that will be open from one Thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:
-
A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
-
Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
-
Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
-
It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)
Ex: If the theme is KISS; your sentence can have “They kissed so gently” or “Their lips touched each other” or “The smooch was so passionate”
This will give us a wonderful opportunity to explore and understand different writing styles and descriptive approaches adopted by authors.
This week’s theme is:
LOCATION (reference to the location where the story is happening)
If you have trouble, just find any location – a doctor’s office, a park, a room, anything would work fine.
Iron Crowned by Richelle Mead
“Kiyo and I crossed back to Arizona at a nearby gateway, going to his place instead of mine so that he could redo my stitches. He was as good as any ‘real’ doctor, and I didn’t want to have to explain my new cuts and bruises to someone else.”
Location 2842 – Kindle (Page 206)
That definitely makes sense, I wouldn't want to have to explain that stuff to someone new as well!
ReplyDeleteMine is from Heresy, which I've been reading for a couple of weeks.
Good one!
ReplyDeleteHere's mine: My Bookshelf
I also participated in Booking Through Thursday here.
Hope you'll drop in for a visit soon and take a moment to enter the two contests indicated in my sidebar too.
Arizona! Never been there, but I 'd like to.

I've heard great things about Mead's books.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Snippet
Sounds exciting! Does leave one wondering why a real doctor isn't a choice.
ReplyDeleteWondering what they're wrapped up in if they can't go to a "real" doctor?

Arizona!! been there, visit only.

Wow! That's intriguing - although I think I'd still want to go for a "real" doctor!

There are 4 books in the series?? damn, I hate having to wait! ;)
ReplyDeleteah, that makes sense, if you remembered where it took place.. I am rubbish at remembering things like that. Thanks for the explanation though, might try that next time :o)
I wish you were going to Boston too!!!!!! It won't be the same since you're not going with us. :(
ReplyDeleteI've already read this one - loved it! Wait till you get to the end, then you'll be waiting impatiently for book four just like me!
ReplyDeleteFor searching on my Kindle, I remembered that this story took place in Arizona, so I just did a search for it. For other themes, such as body parts, or kiss, or something like that, I've just been doing searches in the book for terms like hands, chest, hair, kiss, etc and then seeing what it comes up with. I've done that for the last three theme posts and it really seems to help!
Arizona. Nice. I"m in Memphis, ( wishing I were going to Boston ;P )

I have this one on my TBR-pile, are you enjoying the read?
ReplyDeleteOh and you mentioned that you were searching for the location with your kindle, what exactly where you searching for? don't think I couldn't found anything by using that function tbh, but that's just me ;)
