Follow Friday #6

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

Q. If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?

A. If you haven't read Lover Mine in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward, continue
reading at your own risk!

I don't really have a series that I would like to change the ending of. To be honest, I actually haven't read very many completed series, as most of the ones I'm reading are still ongoing.  So I'm going to chose a book in a series.  I chose Lover Mine by J.R. Ward because this was my least favorite book of the series. I literally had to force myself to continue reading it, and even with skimming it took me over four days to complete!  So here's what I would change about it: leave out almost all mentions of Lessers and get rid of the random other story going on in the background. I'm sure that will come into play eventually but I just found it took away from the main characters story line.  In the latest BDB book, there were not many mentions of Lessers at all. I found this to be so much better than in previous books.

So, I know this book was loved by many, but I was not one of them. If you loved and enjoyed it just the way it was, that's wonderful. I could have done without this one though, and it would be a book I would change if I could. (But seeing as how I'm not a writer, I know I couldn't actually do a better job lol!)

  4. @Shaunna - I know a lot of people who liked the book lol.

@Annie and Kristina - It wasn't Xhex and John I didn't like, it was the stupid Lessers and that other story going on in the background I didn't like. Thats why I say if you get rid of those two parts, it would have been a lot better! :D

  9. Being the maverick that I am, I penciled in my own addition to this week’s Follow Friday question and then answered it.

Change the ending of a book? No way, no how.

From the perspective of a reader – it never even dawned on me. As a writer I find the notion sacrilegious.

Wait! I can explain! Follow me back to my blog for all the verbosity – http://www.howardsherman.net
